Data Comparison Document

Use this document to see, analyze data comparison results and set up synchronization. It consists of the following:

Comparison Result Grid Shortcut Menu and Comparison Toolbar

The shortcut menu of the Comparison Result Grid of a Data Comparison document provides a number of options to manage the data comparison document:

Calls Data Comparison Wizard where you can change options for the performed data comparison and perform new data comparison.

RefreshButton Refresh
Refreshes the opened comparison document.

stop-execution Stop Execution
Terminates data comparison or synchronization operation.

FilterDataComparisonDocument Filter
Use it to filter the comparison results by their status. Click the down arrow near the Filter button and select the corresponding option in the appeared menu.

filter-allDataComparisonDocument All
All rows are included into the grid.

filter-differentDataComparisonDocument With Different Rows
Only different rows are included into the grid.

filter-identicalDataComparisonDocument With Identical Rows Only
Only identical rows are included into the grid.

filter-conflictDataComparisonDocumen With Conflict Rows
Only conflict rows are included into the grid.

filter-included-objDataComparisonDocument Included Objects
Only rows with included objects are shown into the grid.

filter-excluded-objDataComparisonDocument Excluded Objects
Only rows with excluded objects are shown into the grid.

Correctly Mapped Objects
Check this option to show correctly mapped objects.

Incorrectly Mapped Objects
Select show incorrectly mapped objects. Objects are considered as mapped incorrectly if there is no comparison key or source or target object was described with error.

Opens the Comparison Report wizard. Go through the wizard pages to generate a report.

Synchronize_buttonDataComparisonDocument Synchronize
Opens Data Synchronization Wizard.

Exclude-selected-objectsDataComparisonDocument Exclude Selected Objects
Excludes selection from the needed row, if available.

Include-selected-objectsDataComparisonDocument Include Selected Objects
Includes selection into the needed row, if available.

sync_directionDataComparisonDocument Change Synchronization Direction
Changes the synchronization direction, so you can synchronize both databases without re-comparing them.

Document Header

Document header shows:

The search field that allows you to find an object.
Source and Target databases with their connections.
Number of selected objects.

Comparison Data Details Grid

The Comparison Data Details Grid displays all the records of each compared object that is selected in the  Comparison Result Grid. The records are automatically grouped by status and displayed on separate tabs, and are easy to navigate.

Column with check boxes
Select a check box to include an object to data synchronization.

Owner
Shows an owner of a source object.

Source Object
The object of the Source database that will be compared with the corresponding object of the Target database.

Only in Source
Displays a quantity of records that exist only in source database.

Different Records
Displays a quantity of records, having the same comparison key value, but differing in other columns.

Only in Target
Displays a quantity of records that exist only in target database.

Identical Records
Displays a quantity of identical records. Note that this column is available only if the Identical records option of Data Comparison Wizard is turned on.

Conflict Records
Appears only if there are conflict records (records, having non-unique values of the custom comparison key). It displays numbers of different key values in the conflict records.

Target Object
The object of the Target database which contents you compare and synchronize with the Source one.

Owner
Shows an owner of a target object.

Comparison Data Details Grid Toolbar

Only in Source
Displays a quantity of records that exist only in source database.

Different Records
Displays a quantity of records, having the same comparison key value, but differing in other columns.

Only in Target
Displays a quantity of records that exist only in target database.

Identical Records
Displays a quantity of identical records. Note that this column is available only if the Identical records option of Data Comparison Wizard is turned on.

Conflict Records
Appears only if there are conflict records (records, having non-unique values of the custom comparison key). It consists of two grids, each containing conflict records from the corresponding database.

GoToNextRight Go to the next difference
Points the next difference.

GoToNextLeft Go to the previous difference
Points the previous difference.

GoToNextDown Go to the next difference for the selected column
Points the next difference in column.

GoToNextUp Go to the previous difference for the selected column
Points the previous difference in column.

findDataComparisonDocument Find
Opens the Find and Replace Window. Use this option to start search in the grid.

visible-columnsDataComparisonDocument Visible Columns
Opens the Visible Columns dialog box. Use it to display only the needed columns in the bottom grid.

LockKeyColumns Lock Key Columns
Allows to keep an area of a worksheet visible while you scroll to another area of the worksheet, you can lock key columns in one area by freezing or splitting panes.

HideUnmodifiedColumns Hide unmodified columns
If this checkbox is checked, only columns that contain differences are displayed in the grid.

detached-window-btn Show comparison results in a detached window
Click to show Comparison Data Details Grid in a detached window.

collapse-btn Collapse Pane
Click to collapse Comparison Data Details Grid.

expand-btn Expand Pane
Click to expand  Comparison Data Details Grid. The button appears only if Comparison Data Details Grid was collapsed previously.

Shortcut Menu of the Comparison Data Details Grid

The shortcut menu of the Comparison Data Details Grid of a Data Compare document contains the following options (options identical to the ones available on the toolbar are omitted):

best-fitDataComparisonDocument Best Fit
Fits the size of the selected column to the size of data available in it.

Best Fit (all columns)
Fits the size of each column displayed in the grid to the size of data available in it.

viewDifference View Difference
Opens the Data Viewer and Editor window where differences between records can be viewed. If the Data Viewer and Editor window is already opened, it makes this window active.

The status bar in the bottom of the grid displays the number of differences in each column shown in it.
