Example

In This Topic
    Open Method (DB2Connection)
    In This Topic
    Opens a DB2 connection with the property settings specified by the ConnectionString.
    Syntax
    'Declaration

    Public Overrides Sub Open()
    public override void Open()
    Remarks
    The DB2Connection draws an open connection from the connection pool if one is available. Otherwise, it establishes a new connection to the data source.

    Note: If the DB2Connection goes out of scope, the connection it represents does not close automatically. Therefore, you must explicitly close the connection by calling Close.

    Opening an open connection does nothing.

    Example
    The following example creates a DB2Connection, opens it, displays some of its properties, and then closes the connection.
    public void CreateDB2Connection(string myConnString)
    {
      DB2Connection db2Connection = new DB2Connection(myConnString);
      db2Connection.Open();
      MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + db2Connection.ServerVersion
        + "\nState: " + db2Connection.State.ToString());
      db2Connection.Close();
    }
    Public Sub CreateDB2Connection(myConnString As String)
      Dim db2Connection As New DB2Connection(myConnString)
      db2Connection.Open()
      MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + db2Connection.ServerVersion _
        + ControlChars.Cr + "State: " + db2Connection.State.ToString())
      db2Connection.Close()
    End Sub
