New Versions of ADO.NET Data Providers Released

August 30, 2007

Core Lab Software Development has announced the release of the next versions of OraDirect .NET, MyDirect .NET, and PostgreSQLDirect .NET. There are many small improvements that make the development process much more convenient and pleasureful. Particularly, there were enhanced DbCommand and DbCommandBuilder components, improved support for provider-specific types, performed some design time additions.

From now on, our ADO.NET data providers can be used in conjunction with the Entity Framework and the extended relational model (EDM). The Entity Framework support is illustrated with wizard that generates model definition, and a new EDM demo project that shows how to use the data provider in conceptual programming against data.

We have devoted efforts to reorganizing and enhancing the demo projects in the products. Now almost all of the demos are united into single project that simplifies playing around and diving into code. We have added a new demo dedicated to the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) area. This demo shows how to use the data providers in a well-thought application architecture. Also we have added a new demo for .NET Compact Framework, which shows how to check the network availability from a mobile device.

There are several server-specific enhancements. For MyDirect .NET, we have introduced support for DotNetNuke version 4.5. For OraDirect .NET, Proxy Authentication and OCI Pooling were supported, performance in working with LOBs in Direct mode improved.

For a complete list of new features refer to the history pages of each product.

If you wish to provide feedback on the new versions, you can do it in our forums or by e-mail. There is also feedback form in the support zone of every product. We are always glad to hear your comments and take into account your development needs.
