Support for Visual Studio Codename Orcas Beta 1 and Entity Framework

June 19, 2007

Core Lab Software Development has announced support for the upcoming .NET Entity Framework in the ADO.NET product line.

The latest ADO.NET evolution focuses on raising the level of abstraction from the logical (relational) level to the conceptual (entity) level. For this purpose Microsoft introduces the Entity Framework, designed to simplify data - object conversion and embed data access queries into program code.

From now on, OraDirect .NET, MySQLDirect .NET, and PostgreSQLDirect .NET can be used in conjunction with the Entity Framework and the extended relational model (EDM). In the beta versions of data providers the Entity Framework support is illustrated with wizard that generates model definition, and a new EDM demo project that shows how to use the data provider in conceptual programming against data.
