Spatials Support for Entity Framework in dotConnect for Oracle!
November 29, 2012
Devart is glad to announce the release of dotConnect for
Oracle 7.3, Devart ADO.NET data provider for Oracle with support for Entity
Framework, LinqConnect (LINQ to Oracle) and NHibernate! The new version includes
support for Oracle Spatial in your projects, using Entity Framework.
Devart continuing to support all the new Entity Framework features since they are
available. With the introduction of DbGeometry and DbGeography classes in Entity
Framework 5, we immediately have implemented support for Oracle Spatial in our Entity
Framework provider for Oracle. Oracle MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY object type can now be
mapped to DbGeometry and DbGeography classes.
Now dotConnect for Oracle includes new versions of Devart.Data.Oracle.Entity.dll
and Devart.Data.Oracle.Entity.Migrations.dll assemblies built for .NET Framework
4.5 (Entity Framework v5) and the new Devart.Data.Oracle.Entity.SharpMap.dll assembly
for SharpMap GIS library support.
We have created a demo application that shows how to work with Oracle Spatial using
Entity Framework and the SharpMap library with dotConnect for Oracle. It demonstrates
finding distances between cities, finding the area of regions, and displaying spatial
data on a map via the SharpMap library. You can read more about the demo and download
at our blog.
dotConnect for Oracle also provides a number of spatial-specific options for the
Entity Framework provider that allow you to customise dotConnect for Oracle behaviour
when working with Oracle Spatial.

of dotConnect for Oracle now!
