Integration with dbForge Studio for SQL Server

SDAC supports working with dbForge Studio for SQL Server. dbForge Studio for SQL Server is a powerful SQL Server database development environment.

This tutorial explains the integration between SDAC and dbForge Studio for SQL Server.

Compatibility

SDAC supports dbForge Studio for SQL Server in almost all Delphi and C++Builder versions except the following: Delphi 2006, C++Builder 2006, Delphi 2005.

Choosing integration

It is possible to choose what tool will be used by SDAC. Moreover, it is possible to disable integration with any tool whatsoever. It can be done in the Delphi main menu->SDAC->Database Tools menu. There you can choose one of the three options (two options for IDE versions earlier than RAD Studio 2007):

dbForge Studio for SQL Server Integration All the functionality described below uses dbForge Studio for SQL Server
No Integration All functionality described below is disabled and cannot be used

Using dbForge Studio for SQL Server in the components

When dbForge Studio for SQL Server integration is enabled, several SDAC components obtain additional functionality.

Note: Using any submenus of the "dbForge Studio for SQL Server" popup menu described below opens dbForge Studio for SQL Server (if it was not opened before).

TMSConnection

The TMSConnection component obtains an additional popup menu (available by right-click on the component) named "dbForge Studio for SQL Server". This menu contains the "Find in Database Explorer" submenu. Clicking this submenu will cause the following steps to be performed by SDAC and dbForge Studio for SQL Server:

Also, the TMSConnection editor form obtains a dropdown list that is filled with connections from Database Explorer of dbForge Studio for SQL Server. When the value from this list is chosen, TMSConnection's options are filled with the options obtained from dbForge Studio for SQL Server.

Note: The dropdown list on the TMSConnection editor form is filled only if dbForge Studio for SQL Server was running before the editor was opened.

TMSQuery and TSmartQuery

The TMSQuery and TSmartQuery components obtain an additional popup menu (available by right-click on the component) named "dbForge Studio for SQL Server". This menu contains the following submenus:

Also, opening the TMSQuery and TSmartQuery editor form opens dbForge Studio for SQL Server (if it was not opened before). This allows using powerful SQL editor of dbForge Studio for SQL Server directly in the IDE.

TMSTable

The TMSTable component obtains an additional popup menu (available by right-click on the component) named "dbForge Studio for SQL Server". This menu contains the following submenus:

The TMSStoredProc component obtains an additional popup menu (available by right-click on the component) named "dbForge Studio for SQL Server". This menu contains the following submenus:
