    DB2DataReader Class
    In This Topic
    Reads a forward-only stream of rows from DB2.
    Syntax
    Remarks
    To create a DB2DataReader, you must call the ExecuteReader method of the DB2Command object, rather than directly using a constructor.

    System.Data.Common.DbDataReader.IsClosed and RecordsAffected are the only properties that you can call after the DB2DataReader is closed. In some cases, you must call Close before you can call RecordsAffected.

    Example
    The following example creates a DB2Connection, a DB2Command, and a DB2DataReader. The example reads through the data, writing it out to the console. Finally, the example closes the DB2DataReader, then the DB2Connection.
    public void ReadMyData(string myConnString)  {
            DB2Connection db2Connection = new DB2Connection(myConnString);
            DB2Command db2Command = (DB2Command)db2Connection.CreateCommand();
            db2Command.CommandText = "SELECT DeptNo, DName, Loc FROM Dept";
            db2Connection.Open();
            DB2DataReader db2Reader = db2Command.ExecuteReader();
            try {
                    // Always call Read before accessing data.
                    while (db2Reader.Read()) {
                    Console.WriteLine(db2Reader.GetInt32(0).ToString() + " " +
                    db2Reader.GetString(1) + " " + db2Reader.GetString(2));
            }
            }
            finally {
                    // always call Close when done reading.
                    db2Reader.Close();

                    // Close the connection when done with it.
                    db2Connection.Close();
            }
    }
    Public Sub ReadMyData(ByVal myConnString As String)
            Dim db2Connection As New DB2Connection(myConnString)
            Dim db2Command As DB2Command = db2Connection.CreateCommand()
                    db2Command.CommandText = "SELECT DeptNo, DName, Loc FROM Dept"
            db2Connection.Open()
            Dim db2Reader As DB2DataReader = db2Command.ExecuteReader()
            Try
                    ' Always call Read before accessing data.
                    While db2Reader.Read()
                            Console.WriteLine(String.Concat(db2Reader.GetInt32(0).ToString(), " ", _
                            db2Reader.GetString(1), " ", db2Reader.GetString(2)))
                    End While
            Finally
                    ' always call Close when done reading.
                    db2Reader.Close()

                            ' Close the connection when done with it.
                            db2Connection.Close()
            End Try
    End Sub
