DbType Property

Gets or sets the System.Data.DbType of the parameter.

Property Value

One of the System.Data.DbType values. The default value is System.String.

Remarks

The SqlType and DbType are linked. Therefore, setting the changes the SqlType to a supporting SqlType.

Example

The following example creates a SqlParameter and sets some of its properties, including the DbType property.

  SqlParameter myParameter = new SqlParameter();
  myParameter.ParameterName = "DName";
  myParameter.DbType = DbType.String;
  myParameter.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
