Connect Node.js to Jira and access data

Accessing a Jira database can be fast and seamless with an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) solution. Devart ODBC Driver for Jira provides full interoperability and allows you to access live Jira data. The driver enables you to retrieve, view, and modify Jira data directly within Node.js.

Step 1. Configure an ODBC data source

Install the Devart ODBC Driver and configure an ODBC data source. Ensure the connection is established by clicking Test Connection . Next, click OK.

Step 2. Prepare a connection script

In any text or source code editor, edit the index.js file by writing the script allowing a successful connection to the previously configured ODBC driver.

Step 3. Connect to Jira

To proceed, enter node index.js in PowerShell or any other software of your choice. Finally, you can run the script that you have just configured.

How to download, install, and configure Devart ODBC Driver for Jira

Download the driver

Click Download in the upper-right corner of this page. Under Download for Windows, click Download next to the EXE or MSI file or—if you're not signed in—click Get Trial, sign up or sign in to your Devart account, and then click Download next to the needed file.

Run the downloaded installer. Click Next and follow the instructions.

If you don't have an activation key yet, select Trial; if you've already purchased a license, select Activation Key and enter your key. Then, click Next. To complete the driver installation, click Finish.

Open ODBC Data Source Administrator

Click Start on the taskbar, type ODBC Data Sources, and select a matching result. The ODBC Data Source Administrator opens.

Add a data source (DSN)

Go to the User DSN or System DSN tab and click Add. Select the driver and click Finish.

On the General tab, enter a Data Source Name, Description, and other details required to connect to the data source.

Complete the configuration

Click Test Connection to make sure that all details are correct. Then, click OK to save the data source and complete the configuration.
