Connect MicroStrategy to QuickBooks Desktop and access data

Accessing a QuickBooks Desktop database can be fast and seamless with an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) solution. Devart ODBC Driver for QuickBooks Desktop provides full interoperability and allows you to access live QuickBooks Desktop data. The driver enables you to retrieve, view, and modify QuickBooks Desktop data directly within MicroStrategy.

Step 1. Create a dashboard

Open MicroStrategy Workstation, go to Dashboards, and click Create a local Dashboard .

Click New Data, navigate to Generic Data Source > Import Option, and set up a connection to ODBC.

Step 3. Load data from QuickBooks Desktop

Select the table you want to view data from, type an SQL query, and click Execute SQL.

If you don't have an activation key yet, select Trial; if you've already purchased a license, select Activation Key and enter your key. Then, click Next. To complete the driver installation, click Finish.

Open ODBC Data Source Administrator

Click Start on the taskbar, type ODBC Data Sources, and select a matching result. The ODBC Data Source Administrator opens.

Add a data source (DSN)

Go to the User DSN or System DSN tab and click Add. Select the driver and click Finish.

On the General tab, enter a Data Source Name, Description, and other details required to connect to the data source.

Complete the configuration

Click Test Connection to make sure that all details are correct. Then, click OK to save the data source and complete the configuration.
