Connect DBeaver to ServiceNow and access data

Accessing a ServiceNow database can be fast and seamless with an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) solution. Devart ODBC Driver for ServiceNow provides full interoperability and allows you to access live ServiceNow data. The driver enables you to retrieve, view, and modify ServiceNow data directly within DBeaver.

Step 1. Install the ODBC driver and set up a data source (DSN)

Install Devart ODBC Driver for ServiceNow and configure a data source (for instructions, see below). To prevent the incorrect display of the SQL_WVARCHAR data type in DBeaver, set String Types to Ansi on the Advanced Settings tab of the configuration dialog.

Step 2. Create a new connection

In DBeaver Enterprise, go to Database > New Database Connection, select ODBC, and click Next. Connecting to ServiceNow in DBeaver Community is also possible but requires manual configuration using a generic ODBC connection (for more information, see our documentation).

Step 3. Enter the connection settings

In Data Source, select your DSN. Click Test Connection to verify that the connection details are valid. Click Finish.

Step 4. View ServiceNow data

ServiceNow data is now available in DBeaver. To view a table, expand the database structure and click the needed table.

Step 5. Query ServiceNow data

Go to SQL Editor > New SQL script, enter your query, and then click SQL Editor > Execute SQL query. The query results are displayed in the main window.

How to download, install, and configure Devart ODBC Driver for ServiceNow

Download the driver

Click Download in the upper-right corner of this page. Under Download for Windows, click Download next to the EXE or MSI file or—if you're not signed in—click Get Trial, sign up or sign in to your Devart account, and then click Download next to the needed file.

Run the downloaded installer. Click Next and follow the instructions.

If you don't have an activation key yet, select Trial; if you've already purchased a license, select Activation Key and enter your key. Then, click Next. To complete the driver installation, click Finish.

Open ODBC Data Source Administrator

Click Start on the taskbar, type ODBC Data Sources, and select a matching result. The ODBC Data Source Administrator opens.

Add a data source (DSN)

Go to the User DSN or System DSN tab and click Add. Select the driver and click Finish.

On the General tab, enter a Data Source Name, Description, and other details required to connect to the data source.

Click Test Connection to make sure that all details are correct. Then, click OK to save the data source and complete the configuration.
