Connect OpenOffice to ServiceNow and access data

Accessing a ServiceNow database can be fast and seamless with an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) solution. Devart ODBC Driver for ServiceNow provides full interoperability and allows you to access live ServiceNow data. The driver enables you to retrieve, view, and modify ServiceNow data directly within Openoffice.

Step 1. Initiate a connection with an ODBC driver

In OpenOffice, click Database to open the Database Wizard.

Step 2. Select the database

On the Select database step of the wizard, select ODBC in the Connect to an existing database field. Click Next.

On the Set up ODBC connection step, click Browse and select your DSN. Click Next.

Step 4. Set up user authentication

Enter your user name and, if your database is password-protected, select Password required.

Step 5. Test the connection

Click Test connection, enter your ServiceNow password, and click OK.

Step 6. Connect to the database

To save your settings and register the database, click Finish.

Step 7. View ServiceNow data

Enter your database name and save path on your computer. When the database opens, a list of available ServiceNow tables is displayed. To view data, double-click the table name. To query ServiceNow data, select Queries and create your SQL query.

Download the driver

Click Download in the upper-right corner of this page. Under Download for Windows, click Download next to the EXE or MSI file or—if you're not signed in—click Get Trial, sign up or sign in to your Devart account, and then click Download next to the needed file.

If you don't have an activation key yet, select Trial; if you've already purchased a license, select Activation Key and enter your key. Then, click Next. To complete the driver installation, click Finish.

Open ODBC Data Source Administrator

Click Start on the taskbar, type ODBC Data Sources, and select a matching result. The ODBC Data Source Administrator opens.

Add a data source (DSN)

Go to the User DSN or System DSN tab and click Add. Select the driver and click Finish.

On the General tab, enter a Data Source Name, Description, and other details required to connect to the data source.

Complete the configuration

Click Test Connection to make sure that all details are correct. Then, click OK to save the data source and complete the configuration.
