dotConnect for Oracle Compatibility
Oracle Compatibility
dotConnect for Oracle supports Oracle servers 11g, 10g, 9i, 8i, 8.0 and 7.3,
including Personal and Express editions. dotConnect for Oracle supports both x86
and x64 versions of the following Oracle clients: 11g, 10g, 9i, 8i and 8.0.
Framework Compatibility
The provider works with:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
- Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and above
- Mono version 2.0 and above
dotConnect for Oracle is compatible with ADO.NET Entity Framework v1 and v4
(Oracle server 9.2.0.4 or higher is required for Entity Framework).
IDE compatibility
dotConnect for Oracle and can be used with the following development environments:
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
- Embarcadero Delphi Prism
- CodeGear RAD Studio 2007

There are some limitations in Express Editions of Visual Studio.
The following features are not available: provider add-in, automatic
toolbox components registration and DDEX integration. As an exclusion,
Visual Web Developer supports DDEX features.
RAD Studio 2007 is supported in run time only as these environments have no WinForms designers.
Devart data providers compatibility
Since Devart data providers use a common assembly (Devart.Data.dll), it is
necessary to make sure that all installed data providers are compatible.
dotConnect for Oracle can be used together with dotConnect Universal
that provides universal access to different databases within a single code.
OraDeveloper Tools compatibility
The current version of dotConnect for Oracle is compatible with OraDeveloper Tools 2.60.
OraDeveloper Tools supports Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010.
