The latest update to Devart Data Access Components is here, bringing support for RAD Studio 13 Florence Release 2, Lazarus 4.8, Microsoft SQL Server 2025, MySQL 9.7.x, and NexusDB 4.75.20. The release also introduces new security and authentication capabilities, along with improvements to transaction management, database connectivity, data handling, and performance.
Support for RAD Studio 13 Florence Release 2 and Lazarus 4.8
The release adds support for RAD Studio 13 Florence Release 2 across the Data Access Components product line. Developers can move projects to the latest IDE update while continuing to use their existing Devart data access components.
Support for Lazarus 4.8 has also been added, allowing Free Pascal developers to work with the latest Lazarus release when building applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The update also improves support for the Arm64EC target platform, continuing our work on native Windows on Arm development.
Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2025 and Always Encrypted
SDAC and the SQL Server provider in UniDAC now support Microsoft SQL Server 2025, allowing Delphi, C++Builder, and Lazarus applications to connect to the latest SQL Server release.
The update also introduces support for Always Encrypted. Applications can work with sensitive SQL Server data while encryption and decryption are performed on the client side and encryption keys remain outside the database server.
SDAC additionally introduces the UDLFileName connection option for storing connection settings in an external Universal Data Link (.udl) file.
MySQL 9.7.x and new MySQL capabilities
MyDAC and the MySQL provider in UniDAC add support for MySQL 9.7.x.
The release also expands MySQL functionality with support for generated columns and the authentication_ldap_sasl authentication plugin with the GSSAPI mechanism. The latter enables Kerberos-based authentication scenarios commonly used with centralized enterprise identity infrastructure.
Handling of the new ER_CLIENT_INTERACTION_TIMEOUT error packet has also been added, making it easier for applications to identify connections closed by the server after extended inactivity.
More control over transactions
The update introduces additional AutoCommit controls across several products and providers.
ODAC adds the AutoCommit property to the Script component, while PgDAC adds it to the Dump component. UniDAC introduces provider-specific AutoCommit options for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and InterBase components and removes the deprecated AutoCommit property from the UniDAC Script component.
These changes provide more control over whether operations such as SQL scripts and database dumps are committed automatically or can be handled as part of a transaction.
New PostgreSQL connectivity options
PgDAC and the PostgreSQL provider in UniDAC introduce several new connection capabilities.
A new ReadOnly connection option can prevent data modifications at the connection level, making it useful for reporting, analytics, and read-only database access. SNI support for SSL connections improves compatibility with PostgreSQL infrastructure that uses proxies, load balancers, or multiple hosts behind the same address.
The release also adds the ClientCharset option and support for selecting the pv32 protocol. PgDAC can now return complex PostgreSQL types as BLOB fields through the ComplexAsBlob option.
PgDAC and the PostgreSQL provider in UniDAC also add metadata support for materialized views, making them available through TPgMetaData and TUniMetaData.
Authentication and transaction improvements for InterBase
IBDAC and the InterBase provider in UniDAC add support for the TrustedAuthentication connection string parameter.
The update also introduces Wait mode and Lock timeout support in the transaction component, giving applications more control over how they respond to locked records. INSERT and UPDATE statement generation with DMLRefresh enabled has also been improved.
Additional compatibility, performance, and security improvements
The release includes several additional improvements across the Data Access Components product line. UniDAC adds new voAssignReadOnly and voAssignRequired options for controlling field attributes when assigning VirtualTable structures. The obsolete MD5 hashing algorithm has also been removed from the tunnel.php script.
NexusDB support has been updated to version 4.75.20, with faster bulk data loading through TUniLoader and support for read-only transactions. DBF connectivity receives improved compatibility with Codebase and Visual FoxPro formats, while the Access provider improves compatibility with Access 97 databases based on Microsoft Jet 3.
The release also improves handling of the UpdatingTable property in queries that contain multiple references to the same table, helping applications correctly identify the table to update in more complex query scenarios.
