Devart ODBC Drivers update brings SQL Server 2025, MySQL 9.7, and new Snowflake authentication methods

The latest release of Devart ODBC Drivers is here, bringing support for Microsoft SQL Server 2025, MySQL 9.7.x, and NexusDB 4.75.20, along with new authentication methods, advanced data protection features, and improved compatibility with development tools and operating systems.

SQL Server 2025 support and data protection

The latest Devart ODBC Driver for SQL Server adds support for Microsoft SQL Server 2025, allowing applications, BI tools, and ETL systems to connect to the new database version without replacing their existing ODBC-based integrations.

The driver now also supports Always Encrypted, allowing applications to work with sensitive data stored in encrypted SQL Server columns. Encryption and decryption are handled on the client side, keeping plaintext values and encryption keys inaccessible to the database engine. This provides an additional layer of protection for financial records, personal information, and other confidential data.

The driver also introduces two connection improvements:

  • Read-only connection mode restricts data modifications, making it useful for reporting, analytics, and other read-only workloads.
  • Current catalog metadata filtering limits metadata results to the current database, reducing unnecessary information and simplifying navigation on servers with multiple databases.

New authentication options for Snowflake

Devart ODBC Driver for Snowflake now supports OAuth and key-pair authentication, providing additional options for securing database connections.

OAuth enables token-based authentication through supported identity providers, while key-pair authentication offers a passwordless option for service accounts, automated integrations, and ETL workflows. Both methods help organizations meet their authentication requirements without relying on traditional database passwords.

Support for MySQL 9.7 and NexusDB 4.75.20

Devart ODBC Driver for MySQL now supports MySQL 9.7.x, allowing existing applications and reporting tools to connect to this database version. The driver also improves support for the GSSAPI authentication plugin, making Kerberos-based authentication more reliable in environments with centralized domain credentials.

Devart ODBC Driver for NexusDB adds support for NexusDB 4.75.20 and a read-only connection mode, allowing applications to work with updated NexusDB servers while restricting unintended data modifications.

Improved transaction handling and authentication

The Devart ODBC Driver for Firebird and Devart ODBC Driver for InterBase now support the Wait and LockTimeout connection options. These settings allow applications to configure transaction behavior when encountering locked records, including whether to wait for a lock to be released and how long to wait before returning an error.

The Firebird driver also adds the TrustedAuthentication option, allowing Windows-based authentication in supported environments without storing database passwords in connection strings.

Additional improvements

The release includes several updates across other Devart ODBC Drivers:

  • PostgreSQL: The new MatviewAsTable option allows materialized views to appear as tables in metadata results, making them accessible to reporting tools that work primarily with table objects.
  • ShipStation: Support for API v2 provides compatibility with the updated ShipStation platform.
  • Marketo: The Leads table now includes the AllColumnsTask and SubsetColumnsTask columns, expanding the data available through ODBC connections.
  • Microsoft Access: Improved compatibility with the Access 97 (Microsoft Jet 3) format helps applications continue working with legacy database files.
  • xBase: Improved compatibility with the Codebase format and better handling of the AllFieldsAsNullable option for Visual FoxPro databases.

Broader platform and application compatibility

This release also improves compatibility with Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu 26.04, and CentOS Stream 10 for ODBC Drivers that support Linux. These updates help organizations keep database connectivity working as they upgrade their development and server environments.

Additional improvements cover integration with Node.js, Microsoft Visual FoxPro, and DBeaver, providing more reliable connectivity across commonly used development and database management tools.
